The researchgroup CEG of the VUB/ETEC department has done research for industrial partners in the field of:
- Electrochemical etching, anodising and electrochemical colouring of aluminium;
- Design of high speed plating processes of chromium, copper, zinc and tin;
- Electrochemical machining of steel work pieces;
- Electroforming of nickel work pieces;
- Modelling of cathodic protection of buried pipes and tanks;
- Mechanistic investigation of silver, copper, nickel and thallium deposition.
The mission of this “Computational Electrochemistry Group” is to contribute to the development of numerical solvers describing all kinds of processes where ion transport is coupled with electron transport. This group has at the moment a total of nine members (6 PhD students and 3 post-doc researchers).
